Creativity in The Commonwealth

Creativity in The Commonwealth is the National Association of Women Artists Pennsylvania Chapter's contribution to NAWA Now, the online NAWA magazine for members. Creativity in The Commonwealth is considered a "Chapter Chat", which represents an update on behalf of our chapter membership.

We encourage members of NAWA PA to participate in the writing of, and the submission of updates and ideas for Creativity in The Commonwealth. Just as our socials and this site are, Creativity in The Commonwealth is intended to highlight the accomplishments and the activities of this chapter of NAWA, and we hope that you will play an active role in helping NAWA PA share the message of the vitality of this membership.

The following guidelines for the creation of Chapter Chats have been provided by the editors of NAWA Now, Patrice Boyes, and Sarah Katz. If you have any questions about NAWA Now, or this format, we encourage you to contact them and consider attending a meeting of the NAWA Now committee.

To streamline the editing process and make your submissions easier to organize and do, please find below a template for “Chapter Chats” that the NOW editors are providing for your use. Generally, the Chapter Chats should follow this format –

Style Notes:

Submissions must be in 12-point “Arial” font, both for text and titles/headlines

Do not “wrap” text around images (if you include images)

Do not attempt to format text. Please submit in a double-spaced Word file, not a .pdf.

Attach 4-6 hi-resolution images in separate .jpeg file with captions that identify person(s), event(s) and artwork shown (include event date if possible) to highlight activities such as opening receptions and profiled member artists.

Please include your name & title at the top of the submission. Example:

Keep an eye out for the upcoming issue of NAWA Now, and the first edition of Creativity in The Commonwealth. Two of our NAWA PA artists' work will be in the article! We look forward to sharing NAWA PA exhibitions, and other upcoming events via this resource.
